They all can cast spells and alter a creature's luck.

Monster Manual Expanded III Art Previews #42: Featured today are the mighty Bungisngis, a cylopean giant that constantly makes a giggling sound it causes intelligent creatures near it to fall into fits of laughter, the noble Sarimanok - a celestial beast from the Upper Planes whose tail strikes simulate being hit by a prismatic spray spell, and the 2E Kara-Tur classic Tigbanua, a ghoulish-like eyeless humanoid that has an aura of fear and whose bite curses its victims!
