MotW: Geomancer.

If I'm reading this correctly what we have here is a wizard in FullPlate with no chance of spell failure...

Spell Versatility:
The geomancer learns to blend divine and arcane magic. He still acquires and prepares his spells in the normal manner for his individual spellcasting classes. When he casts them, however, he can mix or match spellcasting parameters from any of his classes to gain the maximum possible advantage for any spell with a spell level equal to or less than his spell versatility score. Thus, a 4th level geomancer can cast any 3rd level or lower sorcerer/wizard spells with no chance of arcane spell failure from armor.
.

Requirements seem to be fairly low:
Knowledge(Arcana) 6, Knowledge(nature) 6
Ability to case 2nd level arcane and divine spells.

The Geomancer gets a +1 level of existing class for every level of geomancer.

So a 16th level character with 3 levels of cleric, 3 levels of wizard and 10 levels of geomancer (effective a 13th level wizard) could be slinging around 7th level arcane spells in Full plate. He can use either his intelligence modifier or his wisdom modifier for the spell DC of any of the spells he can cast.

So what do you guys think?
Ysgarran.

p.s.
oh, by the way...it doesn't stop there....I didn't mention ley lines or Drift abilities.

And people complain no one will ever use Heavy Armor. It just won't be the fighters, it'll be Wizards/Clerics!!

That does seem like pretty good deal. Maybe they feel that gaining levels in trwo different spellcasting classes is a severe weakness......

There's an armor enhancement in the BoEM2 that eliminates spell failure chance altogether. There's also a lower powered one that reduces the spell failure chance by 15%.

Ya, I noticed. Also some good enchantments to make armor, especially the heavier ones, more useful for everyone. BoEM2 is pretty cool.

Well, the latter probably isn't much - if you're going to spend 3 levels as a cleric then your Wisdom will probably be decent as well as your Intelligence. Since you have to be able to cast 2nd level spells that means at least a 12 (for +1), meaning the average change in bonus will be about +2. And of course that will only apply to your cleric spells, which are incredibly low level and probably need the boost to have a chance of affecting something (since you can't use Heighten Spell on them or anything).

Now he could[u/] be slinging around 8th level spells - and be >< close to 9th level spells - if he hadn't wasted his time with levels of cleric/druid/ranger/paladin/adept/whatever.

The ability to wear heavy armor isn't really that much of a benefit to people who aren't front-line fighters. For a spellsword it's great. For a divine-focused geomancer it's decent. For an arcane-focused geomancer, not so great - he should be staying away from melee anyway!

IMC wizards wouldn't use plate if they could. AC isn't really a problem for wizards at mid+ levels. At lower levels they might use it, but at higher levels they're not going to be hit anyway. (if they have protective magic, I meant. )
