My wife LOVES Chez Geek!

A few of you may recall me asking for game alternatives for my wife and I, since I was getting sick of UNO.

Well, we found it - Chez Geek by Steve Jackson games. It's a card game, and there are three products available - Chez Geek is a standalone game, and has everything you need to play. Chez Geek 2, and Chez Geek 3 are essentially add-ons that you can get that increase the size of the deck, and as a bonus, Chez Geek 3 comes with a big box so that you can store all the cards. We have all three decks.

The game itself is simple. You pick a job card, and then you play various activity cards, or you buy "thing" cards with the free time listed on your job. Each thing or activity gives a certain amount of "slack", and when you reach the slack goal listed on the job card, you win.

Game play is extremely fast. It's funny, and easy to learn. I wouldn't recommend it for kids since it has tons of references to booze, pot-smoking, getting "nookie", and other such adult-oriented things. But, it's all in good fun.

Anyone else here play it?

Chez Geek ROCKS!!!!!!!! I bring to every con I go to. I can always find pick up games. I like winning games with all nookie slack :D

Our gaming group plays Chez Geek. We love it.

Some others for easy fun are Fluxx by Looney Labs and Munchkin by Steve Jackson Games.

I saw that Munchkin game, but somehow I think my wife wouldn't be into that one as much I would be. She's not into the whole fantasy element very much.

I bought some Magic:TG cards, too, and she's very reluctant to try it.

Greatest Card Game Ever

this game TOTALY ROCKS!!!

just the other day i mentioned it to one of my friends (a VERY hard core card game/board game person) and he had SOMEHOW NEVER PLAYED IT!!! i promptly fixed that situation.

i reccommend this game to everyone. it is hilarious, easy to learn, and very fun.

my favorite quote is from the Expansion Pack 2 (which i need to get)... the card is called She-Who-Cooks.

"You have frozen corn and ketchup packets? Why didn't you say so?"

What we need now is an arthaus film from a struggling director entitled "The Last Days of Chez Geek".

Only my fellow Austrians will get this joke.

Might I also suggest any of the "Cheap Ass Games" games.

For the card games, I'm particularly fond of "Give Me The Brain!" and "Lord Of The Fries" (funniest damn zombies you will ever see). I've heard "Unexploded Cow" is good. For the board games
I like "Kill Doctor Lucky" and "U.S. Patent Number One".

Chez Geek is really hilarious, and quite enjoyable, the only problem with it is that it isn't a very good game. Just keep running through your cards as fast as you can, and you have an even shot at winning. Aside from the politics that takes place in every game, there doesn't seem to be much strategy.

My girlfriend received Munchkin from one of our housemates, and that has to be one of the most cutthroat games I've ever played!

We instituted the "What happens in Munchkin stays in Munchkin" rule to help dissolve any anger that accrues. :D It's one serisously fun game.
