My wife made me an action figure and other simple things in life

So I finally got a new computer and cable internet (and nice raise in salary so I can afford my gaming addiction). My old computer used to crash whenever I tried to post. So I can finally make the transition from lurker to poster. Anyway...

I just figure I'd share this bit of news. My wife, for our anniversary, is making me a action figure of my favorite character. She's painting it and everything. Its up there among the greatest gifts I've ever gotten, along with the Brett Favre jersey my aunt gave me a few years ago and the complete collection of Voltron action figures my mom gave me for Christmas when I was 5 years old.

I really don't expect anybody to care much about this post, but I figured I share. I was going to post a rant about people ranting about 3.5, but somehow I figured that wouldn't add much to these boards either.

However, I just can't resist throwing my two cents into the fray. It seems that a lot of people are upset about their favorite hobby, and the direction its going, while others seem to be upset about aforementioned discontents. I guess all I wanted to say is that the game isn't about casting two spells around or wizards sucking at first level or fighters failing their Hold Person saves. Really, it isn't even about game balance (that last statement is blasphemy, I know). The game is about having fun, and I think a lot of people are losing sight of that in all the pre-release hoopla.

I love D&D, and my wife hates it, but she still was cool enough to give me something awesome that took a lot of thought and effort. And that matters a whole lot more that any new set of rulebooks.

Take care, hope I didn't take up too much of your time.

Scion,
Welcome to the ranks of posters. Now you can dish it out with the rest of us. You must have a lot stored up from your time lurking. :D You are a lucky man, indeed and she is a wonderful woman to make a personal gift relating to your hobby, especially one she doesn't enjoy. Happy anniversary.

That's a great gift!! My wife painted a ceramic dragon as a gift to me for christmas one year. The dog broke it, so she's doing another for me.

I am a fellow lurker

Post a picture of the figure when she's done...! Eagerly looking forward to seething with jealousy.:p
