"GOLLY"

D&D General Mysterious D&D book called 'GOLLY' appears on Barnes & Noble

Yes I think it does need more than one book. Case in point would be the magic system of Darksun is not the same as a typical D&D setting, so I think that would need its own system. Further there were a lot of setting specific spells that should probably be included. That's just one example. As far as a bestiary, I don't think a chapter in a single volume book would be sufficient to properly represent the creatures of the setting. These three examples alone would probably take up a significant portion. Sure it could be done in a single volume if they just want to disregard and omit things pertinent to the setting like they did with Spelljammer like leave out ship to ship combat rules. Guess we'll find out sooner than later.
I mean, we saw how they plan to do Defilokg-Preservijg stuff in UA already. Their treatment of Dark Sun will be handily done in a single book, whether it is this one or another later.

If that is the case, then I'll reserve judgement until its released but if Planescape and Spelljammer are any comparison then I'm not expecting much.

I SOLVED IT.

simple really, the Golly is a alpha numeric code that gives you the number 715121225.

thats obviously longitude and latitude coordinates

so -71.51, 21,22 puts you 55 miles north west of Princess Elisabeth Station in Antarctica.

55 miles means its the 5.5 rules.

North West is for Wizards of the Coast.

Princess Elisabeth is the Heir to the Belgium Throne and born October 25th making her a Scorpio. Scorpions live in the desert and deserts are filled with Sand.

Stationary comes in a Box

Antartica is the oposite of the artic which is named after a bear and the opostie of a bear market is a bull market. Bull is represented in the zodiac by Taurus and its constilation contains the Pleiades also known as the Seven Sisters. The Seven Sisters also exist in the Forgoten Realms and are linked to Aglarond.

So its the 5.5 Wizards of the Coast Sandbox Aglarond.

What did I just read?

I highly doubt it. Darksun would require at the very least a setting book and its own Monster Manual but should probably have its own players books too. That is if the product was going to do the setting justice. Just my opinion. But then again WotC did release the craptacular Spelljammer and Planescape slipcases a few years back, so anything is possible.
I counter your assessment with absolutely no evidence but my hopes and dreams and, as we all know, this hobby was BUILT on nothing but hopes and dreams.

They just did a kickstarter for a nice set of hardcovers of all the gi Joe comics... The price for the pdfs of one volume is around $200...
Yeah I looked earlier this evening to see if I could find the Kickstarter but I couldn't. I don't recall the exact cost but I think the cost for the physical 4 volume copies were $600-$800. Way too much money for my budget.

G.I.Joe comics published by Marvel and written by Larry Hama had got a better plot than the cartoon TV show.

A new book about Dragonlance would be possible if this is more focused into lore/fluff/background than crunch/player options. Maybe the next Dragonlance title will be an animated show more focused into comedy about a group of children who find a set of LEGO: Dragonlancen hidden in the attic of one of their uncles. They open the box and to start to play but they are transported into within Jumanji cursed board-game. No, they are teletransported into within a LEGO version of Dragonlance novels like an archetipical chuanshu* webnovel. Do you remember the geek advice "don't alter the past"? They are no-too-smart children who didn't read the novels and of course they didn't obey that wise advice, causing a funny chaos and Fizban the fabulous has to fix it everything. And as if it was not enough, the plot of summer of chaos is mixed with the original trilogy.

In the past I said the update or return of Dark Sun would be different because the sourcebook would be generic for postapocaliptic fantasy with some pages about the region of Tyr in Athas.

I doubt seriously WotC to release titles more focused into the lore or background than the player options because this doesn't need an update and older books in Drivethrug are enough, and consumers aren't so willing to pay for fluff when they can read freely in fandom wikis.

*(chuanshu is isekai fiction about characters from "our real life" who are transmigrated to a fiction work like a movie, novel or videogame).
