D&D General Mysterious D&D book called 'GOLLY' appears on Barnes & Noble

I was a bit too young to catch the D&D cartoon when it was on. Does anyone know if “golly” was something any of the characters said frequently?

All of the episodes are available online so I went back and watched the first episode while doing some other stuff. Not a "golly" in sight. Maybe in later episodes, but I'm not sure how much 80s cartoons I can handle.

I think the living-side setting was really good, myself (more Yuan-Ti as major villains, please) and I loved that, even though their afterlife was weirdly small, we got to see what a D&D afterlife looks like instead of mumbling something about the Ethereal Plane (which never seems to have all that many dead folks hanging around).

I think bringing normal characters back out from the land of the dead via Manifest is probably a better idea than everyone getting new ghost classes, etc., for content longevity, but I can see why they wanted to go with that sort of crunch. (It sells books! Except when you're about to release 3.5 and screw over even your own releases!)

Did you ever play or run a game in it? I read it when it first came out, so I remember very little of the setting or its mechanics. Im guessing it would be a lot of work to convert it to 5E?

Nope, I was already hip-deep in my existing campaign by then, although I did put Manifest on the edge of the campaign map in case anyone ever wanted to go there.

When I was running a GI Joe campaign last year I went back and watched a bunch of the 80s cartoons, they were hilariously bad, stereotypical and outright offensive at points. Which is odd for a kids cartoon.

Nope, I was already hip-deep in my existing campaign by then, although I did put Manifest on the edge of the campaign map in case anyone ever wanted to go there.

More seriously, I'm not up-to-date with the speculations. What is expected this Fall? Was it something related to the "Season of Heroes"?

Yes, whatever this is will be the Season of Heroes product.

I wouldn't read too much into the placeholder, WotC placeholders have never really tied into anything, which makes sense as it is misdirection.
