So, my players have been level 1 for 3 weeks now (there are six players in the group), and I am tired of throwing the same level-1 monsters at them (as they are of wash-rinse-repeat on encounters and dailies), and would like a change. Next session, the players are going to go to a walled town in search of a transient warlock who has been kidnapping children from around the countryside (part of the larger story arc).
So I thought I would try this: a session highlighting the skill challenge system, and with little to no combat. I would preferably like enough of a challenge to finally level the jokers so I can throw bigger things at them.
I was thinking perhaps something along the political and/or social intrigue route. Unfortunately, I'm still not experienced coming up with good social skill encounters, and I am looking for some inspiration/pointers.
