Need Help with FR Region Feats

First Post
I just posted this on the WotC Boards, but I thought it would be helpful to post it here too. I would appreciate the help.

I just started reading the FR Campaign book. I want to make a halfling, lightfoot cleric (of Yondalla I think). I am confused about the rules for regional feats. One of the other things I was confused about was demihumans are listed under the regions category on the table. Can I make my character from anywhere in the Realms?

If you were my DM, how would you walk me through the steps for making a decision on feats? Do I determine my character's feats by race, class or region? Or all three?

Any member of a race may select their Race as their starting region, and choose feats form tehre. However, the bonus GEAR would only be yours, if you were of your preferred class, OR, if Yondalla lists "halfings" among regions where her clerics are especially strong.

hmm, Yondalla seems to have fallen off the end of he list (it stops at Waukeen). However, since several other race-specific deities list their racial region ... I'd say it's a safe bt Yondalla would, too.

So, you can be a halfling cleric of Yondalla, and choose the general Halfling region. Or, presumably, thre mostly-halfling land of Luiren (you should check the FRCS Errata/FAQ to see if Yondalla's preferred regions are listed there).

...

Actually you can pick ANY region, but if your class doesn't especially favor that region, you don't get the free GEAR.

Keep in mind, the FEAT isn't an EXTRA feat. Just a new option for you to choose as your NORMAL starting feat.

As for the gear: you get ONE ENTRY, not all three. IF there's an (A) and a (B), pick A or B, and follow the directions for that package deal.

When you select your race as a region you can choose a feat from that row on the table But "Any Race" obviously is not a Starting Point for my character. So I could make my character from anywhere in FR, and still select the Feats from the "Any halfling, lightfoot" row?

Do you mean table 1-3 on p22? Yondalla would be included under Halfling Pantheon entry. Regions favored are Any halfling, Chondalwood, Lurien, Silverymoon, Waterdeep.

Thanks, pax.

Oh, and make sure you check out the FR [ur=http://www.wizards.com/dnd/article.asp?x=dnd/we/we20010606a]web enhancement[/url], which has lots of info on demihuman deities.

If you're non-human, you can choose either your race or your geographical region as your "character region". Rules-wise, you only get the benefits of the chosen region (feat opportunities, bonus gear). If you're a lightfoot halfling from Silverymoon who chooses the "Lightfoot halfling" region, that means you identify more with your halfling heritage than with the culture of the area where you grew up, so you only get one set of benefits. You could of course take the Silverymoon benefits later, using the same rules as for taking stuff from any foreign region (needing ranks in Knowledge: Local).

Thanks for the the address. I checked it out, and downloaded it. It's pretty nice, but it is missing Yondalla, Lol.:)

Info on Yondalla are in the PHB (they also left out Corellon Larethian, Garl Glittergold, Moradin and Gruumsh, since they get a short paragraph in the PHB already)

Yes, KaeYoss, but the PHB information doesn't contain ANY FR-specific information, like, which FR Regions favor clerics of Yondalla. 8)
