D&D General New art with a bit of text from Ravenloft: Horror Within

I suspect that monster from Lamordia picture could be a hullathoin, an undead creature that appeared in Fiend Folio 3e.

I wonder how many of the posters claiming Lovecraft engaged in things like smashing random keys have ever had the chance to sit down at a manual type writer and has the privilege of discovering how easy it is to tangle the keys up even at lowish typing speeds.
It's been many years. I'd actually forgotten about that. I suppose you could always use a Boggle set...

It appears to be a Frankensteined sea serpent in the icy sea off Lamordia. As well as referencing Moby Dick I think it also references the Eberron lighting rail heist pic.

It’s clearly cut from a larger picture. I’m sure exactly what is going on is explained in the book!

I do hope it gets explained as currently the image reflects nothing of the tagline "Domain of Snow and Stitched flesh" or "frenzies of Invention"

Now it would be cool if theyre looking to add a bit of Moby Dick horror to the obsessions of Lamordia but then the tagline seems even more inadequate

It kinda looks like a Tarrasque or some other kaiju size monster coming up out of the ice, while a guy is trying to harpoon it Moby Dick style.
I was thinking along the same lines as Moby Dick too. Maybe hunting "Ol' Red" could be an interesting Ravenloft adventure - talk about the terror of being out of your league and forced to hunt after it.

Obligatory "Your going to need a bigger boat" to go along with it...

"Vic, I told you an ancient dragon was not a good test subject for reanimation experiments!"

"Quit moaning and get that thermometer in it's ear, I need it's body temperature."

We should have a re-caption the artwork competition.

Har'Akir:

"What happens in Har'Akir stays in Har'Akir."

"I told you we should have gone to Caesar's Palace"

Valachan:

"No dear, you can't pet the nice kitty."

Sorry, what were you saying about dragonflesh golems?

Wouldn't you like gloom dragons in Ravenloft? Howlings and Tarterians also could be a good surprise for vampire-hunters and undead-slayers.

Hex Dragons (Dragon magazine #343) could be interesting antagonists.

Other thàn Barovia (Strahd having slaked his thirst), the art doesn't exactky invoke the atmosphete of the domains of dread...such as in Ravenloft 2e.

Perhaps its just me viewing the panels as a luttle too generic.

There was a player in a game who played a dwarf named "Dvorak" and my PC would always "forget" his name and call him "Qwerty the Dwarf"
