The Major is less serious and hornier in the manga. Really over all it adds a layer of silly humor to it all that the movie and anime doesn't.

Oh I don’t know if anything mechanically. There’s differences as to how common things like the Fuchikomas (spider tank robots as seen in the mini) are and how they are used or the international politics. More world building differences.

For me, beyond the system differences (Original Design v Forged in the Dark) a big question is which world you want to inhabit. The original manga, with its characters and lore, or ARISE.

It does look like an interesting system, what little's been revealed. I like the idea of the Synthesis Conflict and Aspects. That could be really neat.
