New D&D "Touring Experience" Launching in Toronto This Fall

Some kind of D&D Touring Experience is coming soon, although details are scarce.

Canadians will be the first to experience a new Dungeons & Dragons-themed touring experience later this fall. Hasbro has announced that a new "touring experience" called "The Immersive Quest - A D&D Experience" will launch in Toronto starting this fall. No other details were provided about the event, nor can we find any tickets or mentions of it on the Internet, but the experience was announced ahead of Licensing Expo, an annual showcase of various brands.

It took a little bit of digging to find a potential equivalent to what "The Immersive Quest" could be, but I found at least one possible comparisons. Earlier this year, a similar immersive touring event based on Minecraft was announced, with attendees taking an hour to an explore a blocky world and complete an interactive scavenger hunt quest. I'd expect this to be something closer to an upscale (and probably pricy) experience as opposed to the Willy Wonka Experience of Scottish infamy.

Hasbro has also built up several other immersive D&D experiences, including an off-Broadway improv show called the Twenty Sided Tavern that's set to tour the US starting in 2025.

I could get to Toronto in an hour and a half tops to go check this out, but WotC/Hasbros, penchant to keep you on bated breath just makes me mad anymore. I'll save my money for something else these days

EDIT: Let me say this, I'm not trying to WotC/Hasbro bash but come on I'm sure they have details they could share. Even if they are preliminary give us something, even if its with a disclaimer. It just give me the impression of a company figuring out things as they go along in the short term.

It seems there are whole companies who specialize in traveling, interactive exhibits. I went to a Sherlock themed one which was fantastic and took a couple of hours to go through, which was great as it was hosted by a museum so we could take our time.

The same company offers a dragons theme exhibit, but I get the vibe it might be underwhelming if you are older than 10.

Some malls host touring event spaces. The one I went with the kids was candy themed and was a combination of play spaces, photo ops, art pieces, and ended with a supervised ball pit (if it started to get crowded, the staff asked people to move on).

The tickets and gift shop were expensive but it wasn't the let down I was expecting. It took an hour, mostly because you had an employee who was a "tour guide" who made sure you kept you moving so the next group follow.

This was buried in some Licensing World expo stuff, probably as a hint to would-be licensees that they too can do event-type stuff with the D&D brand. I'd expect the actual event organizer to provide details once they have things ready to go.

Think I'm just venting that 3/4 of the way through the 50th anniversary year of D&D and we've got nothing that I know of. Actually, WotC is releasing or released a 50th anniversary book I think, but at the least I'd have expected a documentary on Paramount+. There is a D&D beer coming out soon right, so I think we're going to see tributes for a few years to come.

The irony of a company with management complaining their product is "under monetized" and then miss an opportunity put a 50th anniversary sticker/collector's item on everything this year.

TBH, that was a different administration but things should have already been in the works before the new CEO got on board.

Apologies for the question, but what is a "touring experience"? Is it some kind of event in which people can actively participate and which is offered temporarily and in different locations?

Touring Experience is probably best explained by Led Zeppelin or the Rolling Stones, but I think it tours a country or area and may stop in your town, or close

A D&D documentary was announced and was probably in the cards for the 50th at some point, but I believe some issues arose with that.

There was a slow start to the year, but there have been some cool things beyond the new edition.

That prestige hardcover history book on the creation of the game.
That 50 years of Dungeons & Dragons anthology of serious scholarly essays from MIT Press.
Playing at the World has the new edition (first volume already out).
50th Anniversary Warduke action figure
Icons of the Realms anniversary figures from Wizkids
50th Anniversary commemorative Secret Lair collection for M:tG
Commemorative play events with free adventures at local stores with golden d20 and red dragon keychain giveaways
Beadle & Grimm fancy anniversary products.
Exhibit at the Strong Museum of Play
Time Magazine special edition.
Piles of panels at GenCon
Edit to add:
Royal Mail 50th anniversary D&D stamps
USPS 50th anniversary D&D stamps
Lego sets
Converse celebratory D&D 50th sneakers and other apparel
Ultrapro 50th anniversary leatherette book folio
Ultrapro 50th anniversary dice tower
Ultrapro 50th anniversary golden zinc alloy dice set
Dragon's Milk beers and merch (great beer tie-in; in terms of theme and quality, IMO)
Reyn & Spooner shirts

A documentary could be cool, but what kind of other stuff were you thinking?

Yes, I think so. Some kind of exhibition/thing you can interact with which tours around the country.

I attended an interactive touring Van Gogh exhibit (there were two competing ones) a couple of years ago which showcased reproductions of and variations on his art in various media. Including a bedroom scene he painted which was recreated as a room you could enter and take pictures in, and a big room with images of his art animated and projected on all the walls in synch with a musical score.
