1. At first level if your class is any class other than your race's favored class you may sacrifice a feat to advance one level in your races favored class as though you had adopted it as a gestalt class. Every time you gain a non-bonus feat you may choose to increase the level of your race's favored class. You may never gain levels in your races favored class and the spells, abilities, and feats granted by your favored class levels may never be used to qualify for any other feats, prestige classes or the like.

2. If at first level your class is your race's favored class you gain a bonus feat. If you continue on the same path and are your race's favored class at 9th and 18th levels you gain a bonus feat at those levels as well. If your class has a specialized list of bonus feats you may select your bonus feat from that list.

3. Races with a favored class of "Any" may adopt any class as their favored class and then choose appropriately.

So if I'm a dwarf wizard, I start off with proficiency in most all weapons and armor, get an extra 6 hit points, a +1 BAB and +2 Fort? As a ranger, I'd get an extra 2 hp and a bonus feat?

So a dwarf ranger 1 is actually a better fighter than a dwarf fighter 1?

Sounds broken to me, on top of becoming a bookkeeping nightmare due to the "these don't help you qualify" clause. Then again, it's possible that the bonuses to every pc due to favored class bennies will balance against each other.

For those benefits you pay a very steep price.

If you're a dwarf ranger 20 who spent all of his feats on fighter "gestalt" you'll have 10 feats fewer than the dwarf fighter who did not.

And what do you gain from it? Four bonus fighter feats, about 10 hitpoints more than any other ranger, heavy/medium armor proficiency and a slightly expanded skill list.

What you WILL end up with is a ranger who feels decidedly more "fightery".

How about this variant:
For every 6 levels in a character's favored class (round fractions down), a character gains a general feat just as if gaining a character-level divisible by 3.

This way, you get the same bonus over 20 levels (and even beyond), but OTOH you don't shoehorn archetypes when someone never intends to take 6 levels in a base class (which are quite a lot in the era of PrCs).

Paying a feat for a class level is NOT a heavy price...in fact that's a bargain. Most feats are not on par with an entire level of a class, furthermore the bargain of XP that you save to level up is even more lopsided against those who don't spend their feats in the above manner.

Just go Gestalt if you're going to play in this manner.

I don't get the allure.

First off, if you are using psuedo-gestalt rules, then that would imply you are allowing gestalt rules. (Otherwise, why are you going this route?)

So, if you are using gestalt rules, why not just run gestalt and not worry about the headaches this book-keeping will cause?

If you are not running gestalt rules, then why use this odd variant?

And, as I think of it more and more, just what is the purpose here? What is it that you are actually trying to accomplish? Are you trying to say that favoured classes should always be a part of a character? If so, just go gestalt with the second class having to be favoured. If not, then again, what's the point?

So, choose, instead of gaining a feat, take an additional level in another class.

that other class is the racial favored class.

I might get behind this if one could choose to take a level in any class, not limited to racial favored class.

Of course, I'd like break something.

Does any race have Druid as a favored class?

Thanks! Couldn't xp you yet. I'd have a blast with a Killoren. Never seriously looked at a Dream Dwarf, methinks I'll take a peek now.
