New Pirates of Dark Water comic!

Here's the scoop as it appeared on Andorus's Pirates of Dark Water Page.

This is pretty big news. I received an IM earlier this week from somebody tipping me off that a comic book studio is working on a new Pirates of Dark Water comic! The person mentioned Marvel by name, but after I did some digging and checked with some reliable sources, it seems that it might be Wildstorm Comics instead. There's no news about it on either website, but the person who IMd me assured me that it's already in production and the 5-issue series should be done by this summer. Wizard Magazine apparently made mention of it in one of their back issues, around issue #139. If anybody could confirm this for me or even send it to me, either via a scan or taking time out to type up the text so I can post it up here, I would definitely appreciate it, since I'm by no means a comic aficionado. Thanks!! I'll be sure and update with every bit of news I hear about this.

I know nothing about this. BUT, having said that, if this is true, I'll be giddy as a school girl to see the PoDW universe explored some more. I really liked that show. Yes, find parts of stuff, save the world, may sound trite, but I LOVED the CONSISTANT detail they had in the world right down to frequent curse words (and some were variations of one another, etc), etc.

It was a good show. I was sad to see it go.

Just pointing out that this comic is in fact being made, and released next month

I hope it is good as (if not better than) the series itself ...

Comic update: I have names and dates. The guy I've been in contact with, the writer, gave me the go-ahead to post information on the comic, now that the preview's been released and the official announcement's been made at Comic-Con.

Release date of Issue #1: September 17
Artist: Michael Sanchez
Writer: Matt Lewis

Michael, the artist, is new to the business. Matt, the writer, is the one I've been in touch with. He's written a few comics for Dark Horse Comics in the past, and is currently writing a Blood Legacy/Magdelena crossover for Top Cow. I believe they want to do 5 or 6 issues of this new comic--and I have more details, I just can't access them right this minute; I'll update this blurb as soon as I compile it all. ^^;

Any idea who is publishing the comic? If it was mentioned and I missed it please excuse me. It's late and I'm at work. Want as much info so I can try adding it to my monthly subscription from MileHigh Comics.

They're bringing back everything else from the 80s/early 90s, so why not Pirates of Dark Water?
