I think we largely disagree on armor.I weighed in on that in my review as well—armor still bugs me a bit but I like the homebrew variable damage reduction fix I yoinked from Pirate Borg: Nimbler: Reviewing Nimble 2e, part 2
And my players found plenty of options and unique things in their classes and subclasses.
We agree on Assess, to a point. I think your analysis is more number heavy than I feel, though. I like the RP and other things Assess can offer in a combat with an unknown adversary.
I both love and hate grids. I prefer areas, but have not implemented them in games yet.
