In light of the recent television premiere, here’s a little something for the lantern fans out there.

The Emerald Templar is an A5E herald archetype that battles evil with fearless passion, creative free will, and divinely bestowed emerald fire.
The 5.5e version, Oath of Emerald Flame paladin subclass, starts about halfway down, and aside from references to Magic Action and Divine Smite being a spell, it should be usable with o5e as well.
I’ve seen other green lantern homebrews out there as warlock subclasses, which can make sense mechanically, but I wanted a version that made as much sense narratively as well, one focused on what it meant to swear an oath to fight against evil and to use their gifts to serve others (as opposed to being beholden to, or striking some bargain with, an otherworldly patron—hmm, a maybe yellow lantern warlock needs exploring here).
Green lantern is one of my favorite superheroes because he fights the good fight, not just externally, but internally as well (willpower over fear). His oath is his bond. His true power isn’t the ring, it’s his will and imagination, brought to bear by the gift of the ring.
Hope you enjoy, and let me know what you think!
