Of all the rpgs you own and like, which is the least likely to be played in 2027?

Shadow of the Weird Wizard. It looks like it has a ton of elements I like, 4e D&D like mechanics with strong pulpy characters that can be interesting no matter which class stuff they take, base line everyone's human in a D&D type fantasy world. I bought a lot of the PDFs on sales. I just don't see myself prioritizing reading the core book to learn the system enough to run it and teach everyone else and to convert modules over to it. It is over 500 pages for the two core player and DM/Bestiary books.

If my current face to face Dolmenwood game ended where I am a player I expect I would offer to DM 5e which I know well or 5.5 which I have bought and read the PH and most of the MM all the way through. I am comfortable running 5e and converting modules to it and I have a ton of material for it like monster books with 5e stat blocks so I could focus just on the adventures I wanted to run and the PCs without spending a lot of time on thinking about the game system rules on top of that.

Night's Black Agents or really anything Gumshoe. I find locating and retaining players to be the most frustrating part of GMing and Gumshoe is just so polarizing. Half my group just plain nopes out and IMHO it's significant harder to find players and obviously it's already hard to find players for less common games.

I've enjoyed a lot of D&D.
Currently, for the reasons mentioned, it is the least likely game that I own to be played in 2027.

I'm also comfortable admitting to myself that I haven't been the target audience for the company that makes D&D for a while. I don't expect that to change in 2027.

I could be bitter about a game not being what I want or I could enjoy enjoy games that are providing what I want. I prefer the latter.
Same. I grew up playing AD&D and I'm grateful for 5E because it got my oldest kid into RPGs in a big way, but it's not my jam anymore.

Game I love but am least likely to play--Triangle Agency. It's too weird to be an easy sell to the RPG newcomers I play games with. It's much easier to get light one-shots to the table than try to get something complex going, even if they're intrigued by the setting, etc.

Probably Eclipse Phase. I have a lot of RPGs, but I don't think I'll be in the mood to try to teach that one anytime soon to a bunch of players. There are other sci-fi rpgs I can reflavor to have a similar feel or simply play rather than that one.

Cyberpunk 2020. Too crunchy for one shot and chances for stable regular weekly/bi weekly campaign next year are slim to none.

Of all the rpgs you own and like, which is the least likely to be played in 2027? Explain why if you have time.
PF2. It's a decent system, but time is a real thing. With a campaign taking our group anywhere between 4 months to 14 months, we have to be picky. We played Daggerheart, a homemade system, and D&D2014. We just started D&D 2024, and that will probably last for a little over a year.

Eldritch Horror TTRPG. Not enough people own it and my own groups are committed to ongoing campaigns. Maybe I can at least squish a one-shot in there somewhere.

Good question, good thread. Super interesting reading all of these good systems that will nonetheless see no play.

For me, it's either P2E or Panic at the Dojo.

I like P2E, I've ran one long campaign and played in two short campaigns in it. It's fun, I like the gameplay. I probably won't play it in 2027 because there's so much competition for dungeon fantasy rpgs. I don't have any current plans to run a dungeon fantasy campaign, and the people I know would probably want to try out one of the new systems that fill that niche.

Panic at the Dojo looks really cool and the combat is super unique, but it's only really suited for one type of campaign: a modern-day supernatural combat heavy martial arts campaign. Pretty often I'll have an idea for a campaign first, and then figure out which system to run it in. Panic at the Dojo works best when you come in to it planning on running Panic at the Dojo.
