D&D General OGL, Pinkertons and WOTC Oh My!

You said:

Will you? Because you haven't so far. But if you will, I can probably provide like 4 one-sentence(ish) bullet-points that can shed a lot of light on the actual issues with the OGL (the decision to attempt to extract money merely being one of them). If you wouldn't, I feel we'd be better off with a more genuinely neutral thread that doesn't start with the opinions of the guy making it lol.
I'm not going to add any more details, its a very high level overview.

Feel free to post any details you want or start your own thread.

So you were not being truthful when you said this?
if you want to add details that I missed let me know and I'll edit.
Because it's not confusing or unclear, you very clearly offered to add details. If you didn't mean it, why say it lol? Also it's not an accurate "high-level overview", a "high-level overview" would state that for a variety of reasons people objected to the OGL, but your overview misrepresents the situation by implying that the revenue cut issue was the only issue. It wasn't even the primary issue, just a particularly wild one.

I mean, this really illustrates the severe problems with your approach to this thread.

I've explained my goal and approach. I don't consider analysis of the potential repercussions of the change necessary for an overview of what happened.

As I said, the issue is that you're misrepresenting, for reasons unclear, what the problems that lead people to object to the OGL were. Your OP is misleading because it presents just one problem, and doesn't even imply there were others, when in fact that one problem was minor.

I'm not talking about "analysis of the potential repercussions", I'm talking about a high-level overview here.

I'm done with this, have a good one.

Thread is doomed to meet the lock hammer I suspect, and that’s probably not a bad thing.

OP is certainly entitled to their opinions even though they differ widely to mine, but the factual inaccuracies and omitted information in their summary of events has not done the debate any favours.

I'm not going into details in my quick summary, there are plenty of posts for that. Because I view this as water under the bridge and a bad decision that was reversed I no longer care much. The goal of this thread was to have 1 place to discuss ... I am not leading the discussion, I do not control the discussion. Want to add details? Add them.

What specifically would you want to see? Whizbang added all the details it seems that anyone could want.
