Older people griping about our even older parents.

For quite a while, having a mortgage and paying property taxes on that home was enough for me to itemize. That changed with the tax code changes when Paul Ryan was Speaker of the House. I did itemize once or twice since then because of medical expenses, but that was a bit unusual.

By the time I was doing taxes, there was no mortgage as a factor (my parents had paid it off years ago). Its possible SALT might have been enough to make a difference, but as I recall when I looked at it once early on, it was sufficiently trivial to not justify the effort.

I just warned you about raising politics in this thread, and here you are again.

Really. One wonders what you though would happen.

Go find another thread. This one is closed to you.

Of course, when it comes to major issues like this it's never just one story, eh? FWIW I didn't have an abusive childhood. But you could start with underlying issues or old arguments from when I became an adult. You could look at other major events that left rifts in the structure. You could look at the arguments we had immediately before the last one. Also, my parents have a history of rotating feuds with different branches of family, but as everyone gets older their opportunities for targets are shrinking, and now I'm "it".

But the really short version is that I actually was attempting to go lower contact, not no contact. I set a boundary my parents didn't like, and they chose escalation (again ). And while I never intended to go full no contact, it's been more liberating than I could have expected. So combining everything together, I am much better with how things are now.
I can’t decide if that’s happy, sad, both, or neither.

A Question For The Aged:

What is the freaking point of a FIVE DAY pill dispenser?
Some people take weekends very seriously.

Less jokey answer.. It's probably smaller and more portable, and something you could pack in your lunch box and take to work for pills needed during the day.
