Well, I'd started working on my DWARVES book as I am a huge fan of dwarves and there was simply nothing out there to suit my tastes. Believe me, "competing" with Green Ronin (and Mongoose) isn't something I would have chosen to do if I had known their stuff was on the way before I had gone through the trouble of writing the book and starting up a company to publish it. That being said, I hope there won't be much competing content between the two books. I have taken a very narrow focus with the HEROES OF HIGH FAVOR series, concentrating on the favored class aspect of each race. Yes, I imagine there will be some overlapping content in some of the "iconic" prestige classes (the battle-rager and mage-smith type offerings being obvious examples). You can break DWARVES down into three sections: 1) Feats and skills-- with a heavy focus on fighter feats (remember that favored class focus!) as well as the "iconic" fighting styles 2) Dwarven craftsmanship-- dwarven Runes and an expanded masterwork section (building heavily on the mithril and adamantine sections from the DMG) 3) Prestige classes-- ten fighter-multiclass options As you can see we're talking about lots and lots of crunchy bits. We do present some roleplaying discussion for players to help them find their role in the game and within the party (which you can see here) but stop short of in-depth background material aimed at DMs. This is a book first and foremost for dwarf players. The narrow focus of our DWARVES book, smaller size, and lower retail price ($9.95) leads me to believe it will be a nice "companion" to GR's offering (officially released the month following Hammer and Helm).
