I've been traveling to visit friends, so I haven't worked out since Tuesday. I'm using the break as a mini-deload and reset. I felt good going into the break. For when I get back, I'm trying to decide if I keep on using the Smith for bench or I go back to the standard barbell...

175.2, failing on the diet part this morning, a bit sore from yesterday but all good I think.

I find on bench I dont really like free barbell. Where it puts the load feels a bit off, but I still have this bum shoulder to work around so YMMV.
 

175.4 this morning.

Upper, was pretty good. I'm adding weight to my back exercises. Bench is stalled, recovery just isnt there, I dont know. My left triceps was tight again, so I didnt push it too much.

I'll do Legs tomorrow, and then I'm not sure if I'll do Wednesday, see how it all feels. It seems like I may need 4 days between lifting, which kind of feels lame, I dont know.
 

Friday May 22, got in after work.
  • All the Smiths were busy, so did machine pec flies for chest. 100x20, 120x15, 120x10 +100x5
  • Rear delt flies: 90x20, 90x18, 90x16 (+4 reps, +2 reps, +1 rep). Pushing these maybe a little harder.
  • Machine biceps curls 80x22, 80x16 +70x5, 70x20. (+5lbs, +1 rep, drop down to 70 +reps). Felt pretty good.
Still not back to three times a week, but I'm staying decently active, my food and sleep I think are getting a little better. At least the sleep, which is key.
 


175.6, sleep was wildly flawed, I was waking up every 1.5 hours, stress. Just dumb, and that probably pushesme over the edge to a cold.

So!

I went to push Legs of course.

Felt really strong, on everything but Squat, back felt off so didn't push it.

Legs feeling horrible now, as intended.

175.8 this morning, more poor sleep. Stress induced mania a bit? I can kind of feel it coming on.

Uh....I dont think I'm working out today/tomorrow, will try and get some house stuff done. Yeah thats probably the plan.

Still sleeping poorly.

I need to work out for my mental and physical health, but I cannot recover if I work out every day. The answer is not to work out 'easier' so I really dont know what I can do to thread the needle here.

What is your goal that you’re aiming for? Are you looking to cut weight or hit a particular PR?

I'm not cutting at all, I'm in a 'maintenance' kind of diet balance, as when I was bulking, it did some bad things to my liver and cholesterol.

I'm not frustrated with my gym progress, diet, or body composition, I'm frustrated that my recovery seems to be struggling due to sleep really, and so cannot work out as much as I like.
