Our Physical Fitness

Friday evening June 5th. First week getting in three sessions in six or eight weeks.
  • Smith inclined barbell bench 105x10 pause +3 +100x6, 105x10 +100x3 +95x2, 105x7 +100x3 +95x2, 95x9. Maybe tiny improvement after a bit of a false start.
  • Machine rear delt flies 90x20, 90x17, 90x15. One more rep than Monday night.
  • Machine biceps curls 80x23, 80x17 +70x2, 70x16. -1 rep, +2 drop set reps, -6 reps. Meh.
Saturday I helped a friend move, including four big heavy pieces of furniture I had to lower down two long flights of stairs (and two short ones) one step at a time on a Uhaul hand truck. Heavy enough that they would bounce and have to be shifted/re-set on the truck repeatedly, thanks to no one having brought ratchet straps. Then the fun of lifting them up and into a van with just the two of us (thankfully a third guy showed up in time for the biggest one). Unloading was easier and the courtesy carts at the storage place made them much easier put away. Those mothers were a whole body workout even with the hand truck. I've got a nice little collection of bruises on my arms and shoulder from that exercise, but it was a workout, at least!

Moving stuff is surprisingly difficult ar times.

Monday June 8:
  • Machine triceps push-down 120x35, 130x32, 140x24, 159x17. Still significantly better than last time I did this, again not stacking it with a chest press, so the tris aren't pre-fatigued.
  • Machine shoulder press 50x10 +40x2, 40x14, 50x10 +40x3. Definite drop off from last time, but this may be because of ordering. I had seated row between this and the tricep press down last time, so that may factor here.
  • Machine seated row 120x15, 120x15, 129x15. Again added 5lbs from last time I did this.
Thursday June 11:
  • Smith inclined barbell bench 105x13 +100x3, 105x8 +100x3 +95x2, 105x8 +100x3 +95x2, 95x10. Totals just a smidgeon better than last time?
  • Machine biceps curls 85x20, 85x15, 75x15. Increasing weight 5lbs, losing a few reps. ROM has been suffering a little recently as I've increased weight, but my effort is still high, at least.
  • Fly machines busy so did machine seated rows again. 120x18, 120x16, 120x16. Added a few reps from last time.
The heat and humidity this week have not been great for my motivation or my sleep, but I'm trying to dial in the right level of AC overnight, and thankfully once I get to the gym the AC there is good.

Got there on Legs, but my lower back was not prepared following yesterday, so cut the rDL and Squats.

Added a set to Extension and Press.

Did a bit of cleaning earlier, a bit of hobby work which I didn't touch while I was traveling.

Probably be lazy rest of the weekend, it's getting hot, and then figure out a plan for next week.

Lift again Monday, and maybe Wednesday, depending on recovery of my legs.

Oh and 176.8 this morning.

175.8, Legs always draws it out of me overnight.

Today is going to be a lot of clean up and re-organization around the house to prep for eventual next reno steps. We got away from it a bit the last few weeks and its time to get back on the horse.

Which means I may not do any hobby stuff till later, but I've got a lot of words down now in various states of complete so thats fun.

Upper tomorrow, my lower back still pretty tight which is lame, but onward we go.

176.2 this morning, and Upper was surprisingly strong.

Back to 8 reps on Bench.
Dips was an easy 10 even after that.
Back continues to get stronger, 210 pulldowns, 215 rows, 100 per arm Hammer Pulldown, weighted pullups.
Incline bench and 'near max incline' press also went up.

On and on.

So the lesson much as I hate it seems to be?
