Our Physical Fitness

I had a pretty good leg day yesterday: my heaviest leg presses yet, and incremental progress on the extensions. I've basically cut squats and traditional deadlifts out entirely, and my back has felt immensely better. During the school year, I've been doing straight-legged deadlifts. But since the gym traffic is soooo much better during the summer, I've swapped out SLDs for this plate-loaded hip thrust machine that's pretty brilliant.

Tonight I'm hitting upper body. I'm trying to add reps to my weighted pull ups and to my incline DB press in particular. I want to catch up to @Scribe!

Legs was somewhat grim. Its really hot here and I was struggling to get motivated.

Hack - Finally went up, added 40lbs, felt great.
RDL - Only gave it a few reps, back not feeling great.
Squat - Didnt do it.
Extension - Almost have the stack going now, felt decent till my knee felt a bit off.
Curl - Fine.
Press - Didn't get to the top end, I didnt want to push my knee.

So...maybe we are getting to the point where joints start to be the limit? Meh.

Tomorrow/Thursday, I'm going to force myself to go for walks.

179.2...I'd prefer the numbers stabilize so I'm going to cut back some calories and do my walk tonight.

EDIT: The walk was fine, the heat is messing me up, inflammation through the roof, feels like my hands are retaining water in the joints. Weak, and just not fun.

Early start tomorrow, this week is testing my patience in a lot of ways.

Get after it boys.

179 on the nose this morning.

So yesterday.

Got my 9 reps on the bench. Was going to try and push it, but figured no, lets get 10 on Monday.
Got my dips in, I'm back to 110 chained on for 10.
Pullups, 10 with 25 chained on.
Pulldowns, 210 for 8. Need straps, my wrists/hands give out.
Pec Deck, a very clean 210 for 12. I'm about ready to add weight here.
Rows, 215 for 8. This is getting painful on my elbow, need to be careful now.
BoBR, still at 185, but up to a clean 10.
Incline Press at various angles, 180 x 8, and then at near vertical, 160 x 6 (this one sucks lol)
Hammer Pulldown, 180 x 8. Wrists/Hands too tired at this point.
Dumbbell press, 90 x 11. Was thinking of going 95s, will do so Monday.
Cable Delt thing (I need to find what this exercise is) 25 x 8, 30 x 8. I do 2 sets, as the side delt is hard for me to trigger.
Rope Tricep Extension, 75 x 8. This is overhead now, not pressing down, as I needed to hit a different part of the tricep.
Free Weight Pullups, no extra weight. 15 reps to finish off the pump lol

So thats my upper workout right now, minus the warm up stuff. Feeling great.

I'm on call for work today, and my left knee is a bit wobbly, so I dont know if I'll hit Legs, but Monday, Monday will be good.

Are you still doing the "1 working set per exercise" deal? And re: straps for pulldowns, I haven't run into that with pulldowns. But with plate loaded rows and dumbbell rows? Absolutely.

Yep, I dont know if its just too much weight, or if my hands/joints are just not working with the cable pull down? My pull downs specifically were really far away from everything else it seemed. Its improving, but that was a weak point for me.
