Participation in a skill challenge

The errata for the DMG has removed the rules about rolling for initiative and having player turns in a skill challenge.

Is is up to the players who participates in a skill challenge? Would it be possible to just have one or two characters making all the rolls?

Is is up to the players who participates in a skill challenge? Would it be possible to just have one or two characters making all the rolls?

Considering that a skill challenge is supposed to be an encounter you want everyone to participate. If only a couple PC's participate then only a couple PC's should get XP for the encounter.

If a skill challenge is set up so that only 1 or 2 characters CAN participate for whatever reason then its a bit different.

Note that not being maxed out in a skill doesn't qualify as not being able to participate.
