I like the idea of a stealthy party, but probably would do it with some multiclassing...
Rogue/Fighter
Ranger
Rogue/Sorcerer [or Wiz]
Bard

You left out the option of "mixed, without a theme but without stepping on anyones toes". The sort of party where you might have a paladin, druid, beguiler, and warmage working together. Certainly not a "pre-fab" four, but you still hit all your main bases.

I voted for Jello too.

Primarily because there were many options which I found equally appealing, and some others which I find appealing which were not present on the list:

Theme Pretty: Paladin, Sorceror, Bard, Favoured Soul

Theme Nature: Druid, Ranger, Barbarian, Wu-jen

Theme Evil: Blackguard, Dread Necromancer, Assassin, True Necromancer

The Psi team. In most setting, the psi factor alone could be a source to party cohesion. It still fills all the roles, no one steals each other's spotlight all the time, and generally seems like a good theme.
