Paizo Pathfinder and Starfinder prices are going up next month

The prices go up on October 1st.

It's no secret that Pathfinder RPG publisher Paizo has had a difficult couple of years. Earlier this year, the company was forced to lay off 12 employees after massive losses caused by their distributor's bankruptcy and the ensuing complications, as well as reducing Pathfinder Society and Starfinder Society offerings to once a month.

The company has announced that Pathfinder core books, pocket editions, and selected other Lost Omens and Starfinder hardcovers will be increasing in price from October 1st. The core hardcovers will be increasing from $59.99 to $69.99, to match other hardcover books in their catalogue. The pocket editions will be moving from $29.99 to $34.99, while other hardcovers will be receiving similar increases.

The increases are attributed to a wide range of increasing costs--"Making a book has grown more expensive in pretty much every way. Tariffs and shifting global trade rules, paper and printing, freight, warehousing, and fulfillment all cost more than they did when many of our current prices were set. We’ve absorbed as much of it as we responsibly can, but much of it simply remains beyond our control."

Adventures and adventures paths are not affected, and neither are accessories or PDFs, which were already adjusted earlier this year.

Going forward, books will be priced based on their development and production costs--page count, art, and so on.

Paizo's product catalogue was recently added to DriveThruRPG, after being absent for nearly 20 years. Additionally, the companies announced a feature called Paizo Connect, which allows customers to link their Paizo and DriveThruRPG accounts and sync their PDF libraries.

The prices go up on October 1st.

While a wish they would keep the price of the core 3 the same, I completely understand that the realities of today's market conditions are what they are. PF2E is still an amazing game, with some great books!

Going back on DriveThruRPG sounds like a good business move. I haven’t bought anything from Paizo in years, but I used to buy a lot, and I do shop on DriveThruRPG.
