My dad does that a bit, too, but with things he prints out from news sites ("news" sites) and WebMD. The main difference is that he (1) doesn't care what I think and (2) tells me how he's printed it out so he can tell his doctor all the ways he's wrong. For the former, I'm not an MD, so maybe that's reasonable -- all I really have to say is maybe you should listen to your doctor, but if you don't want to do that, just ask them about it. For the latter, one of the unexpected "treats" of watching my father age has been learning that he's a real piece of work. It's been enlightening.
