Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Forest fires are incredibly awful, but I gotta say, I'll take "things shake around for a few moments" any day of the week over "the sky itself will reach down to pick you up and fling you away" and "Poseidon has decided it is time for your puny civilization to come to an end"

That's because we trade off frequency for intensity. A big earthquake can outdo almost any storm you can get, and will give you no useful warning. Its just that big earthquakes are pretty rare, where storms large enough to do some serious damage happen regularly.

I cannot imagine a time in my life in which I would have instantly recognized myself, even these days, though every day it gets better

It doesn't help that in my 50's and 60's my father's bone structure has kind of emerged in my face, wheras when I was younger I much more resembled my mother (I still have closer to her family coloration).

You might be joking but I know someone who does polling in the US and this is a thing that's being pushed.
I can't decide if that's better or worse than a Senator inventing and naming hypothetical constituents whom he references repeatedly in place of real ones when discussing his policy prorities.

I'm not surprised. All of my million dollar ideas hit me fifteen minutes too late to Capitalize on.

Mine hit back in college, where I couldn't capitalize on them, or when working for organizations that didn't share the vision.

"Hey, guys. One of my friends, who works at a university, told me about this cool thing called "The World Wide Web" that's a commercial outgrowth of ARPANet and the networks that researchers use to share data. Sounds like something to jump on. Imagine being able to use it for sales!"
I’ve had a few that are starting to hit the market…for others. Had an idea for:

1) curbside grocery shopping back in the 1980s.

2) credit/debit cards for minors with “safety rails” in the 1990s

3) a men’s 3 piece suit in camouflage fabric. It hit a Paris runway a year later. Some of my other fashion ideas have been commercialized, too, but not all.

4) using HEW (now called HEMS) trusts in the contracts of athletes & celebrities under the age of majority to protect their future interests. I first pitched the idea in the early 2000s to one of my mentors (who literally taught classes & wrote books on drafting such contracts), and his jaw literally went slack. (AFAIK, almost no one is doing that.)

Etc.

Much worse imo. The Baileys can be steelmanned into something almost reasonable, the other thing is just...awful.
