Seeing a huge tree getting prepared for removal makes me sad every time.
In principle, I agree. In practice, I have some big trees in and around my yard that I need to keep an eye on, and which I'll probably be responsible, at least in part, for deciding to remove; I will endeavor to have that happen before they all on anyone's property.

Else-thread: I know you've read the DMG, so your argument can't be centered on not reading it. So is it "no one remembers what they read in the DMG" instead of "no one reads the DMG"?

Yeah, I get it, and this particular tree is huge and right at an intersection of power lines.

Still, it hits me in a way few things still do.

Had folks out yesterday for the twice annual spraying for pine beetles on our dozen + remaining pine trees. (I'm not sure it really works, but over the past 20 years we've lost every single one in the part of our woods we didn't have sprayed, and have only lost three in the rest of it and closer to the house).

We have a huge oak leaning over our car port and the power lines (probably not big enough to hit the neighbors house). The tree folks last year said it still looks ok, and it did survive the 1,000 year rain storm a decade ago (unlike three others in the yard). ::crosses-fingers::
