The BBC said the decision was made "after careful consideration" and had "not been taken lightly".

I would love to see a young British filmmaker -- the equivalent of the folks who made Backrooms and Obsession here in the US -- get a crack at this.

Doctor Who needs to feel fresh and new and I'm not sure folks the age of RTD (63 y/o) should be the one regenerating the Doctor for future audiences.

Id argue it needs to feel classic and old...like 1974 old. Though, its probably just not for me anymore.

I think turning it into the 1974 version of itself, with sets that wobble when doors close or an actor gestures too emphatically, would only work if we're making a parody of it and closing up the shop for good.

I've never watched any Doctor Who in any iteration. Not even like part of an episode. But. . . I did read an article about the six Doctors in Dragon Magazine in the 80s.

I haven't gotten that far in my overview of my collection of Dragon yet. But should get to it before the end of the year.

In fact, I think shooting at least the initial story arc in the YouTube found footage/creepypasta style would be a great way to make even tired Doctor Who aliens -- most of whom should go on a long vacation -- creepy and new again, as well as making it clear that the Doctor is also an alien.
