Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I started with HERO with Hero I/II/III, and you learned to be extremely, uh, "creative" with limitations and such, to eke the most possibly effectiveness out of 225 points. That extended to HERO 4th/5th/6th edition, just because it became so ingrained a habit. I still remember the two guys who came to the convention with their BYO Champions characters. As soon as the session started, one announced, "I crack the Earth!" then the other, "I extinguish the Sun!" Sure enough, they'd been very creative and built powers to do that. I congratulated them, booted them from the table, and restarted the session with two fewer players...
"Sorry guys, the name of the game is 'Champions', not 'Super Villains.'"

Also "Congratulations, you've discovered that the system has openings that can be exploited."
Listen, I don't even read your posts. I see who commented, assume I know in exactly which way you're wrong, and the issue an exhaustive correction based on what I assume. I can't possibly read all 50,000 posts I respond to every day, it would be too physically taxing, but the sheer volume of people doing things differently than I is both shocking (how can so many people be so wrong?) and daunting. Or it would be daunting for a lesser gamer. Fortunately, I am like the Bodhisatva of RPGs, generously willing to delay my ascension to Nirvana to assist the lesser beings in attaining a similar state of satori.
You're wrong. The Necronomicon never says such a thing.

Champions got min-maxing players early. It has always been exclusively point-buy (as that is the way to make exact superhero homages, like how 99% of Champions players start), and designed to be extremely modular. Which meant we got extremely good at figuring out how to get the most "bang for the buck." And giving Champions GMs a lot of practice in reining in player exuberance...

I would take their lovely ideas, give my villain a few more points, slap NKD (No Known Defense) on it and hit them with it.

As someone who got his start with Champions but has engaged with--well, let's just say a lot--of other superhero games over the years, outside the narrative-centric ones, the more detailed and versitile a superhero game (or its close kin) gets, its intrinsic that there will end up being potential exploitation spots, because to avoid those also avoids things you want to be doable.
