21st century doesn't arrive to everyone at the same time. For example, until last year my 2005 Corolla had handles to roll up the windows and a CD player.

My first car had crank windows and you would not believe how often or how loudly my friends complained about having to roll the window down instead of pushing a button.

How long ago did you stop being excited by new D&D product launches? The last time I was truly excited was for Spelljammer 5e. Then saw what they did. After that, the magic was gone. I bought the three 5.5 books but it's not the same anymore.

Ill be honest, no magic since 5E launch back in 2014. Before that it was PF1 up to 2019. Now its Mongoose Traveller 2E stuff.

Thats more to do with me moving from both D&D and fantasy as my genre and games of choice in the RPG space. Now, its more curiosity about how D&D develops that keeps me hanging around.

I get excited by third party stuff all the time.

With WotC releases it's mostly just core rules/new editions which still have some juice, for me.

It is legit weird when you discover a poster who has never, ever posted anything you agree with -- not in a jerk way, just a pure "wow are our preferences divergent!" way.

I think the "not in a jerk way" is the weirder part, here. Disagreement that never curdles into something worse is ... not the usual way.

I was annoyed about buying another set of core books. One of my kids, who is in high school, was extremely excited about the fact that he was going to get a second PHB. It's the first time in his gaming lifetime that there has been a new edition, and he was pretty psyched about it.

So, there's an age aspect to consider.
