The number of people who stringently cling to the belief that IP law is based on what they want rather than actual law is astounding. What's even more surprising is the number of people that actually seem to take pride in the fact that you can't teach them otherwise.

Here & elsewhere, I often get downvoted for talking IP law while quoting the relevant sections. Sometimes even when providing links.

Folks got no idea what power steering does... but yeah trust me you want it. Unless you are looking for popeye arms.

Both cars had power steering, but the interior controls were all unassisted manual ones.

I wish my current ride had a CD player.

I get that. Did one last trip to my parents home before selling it. It was CDs of old Genesis, in order, from Nursery Crime to Trick of the Tail, return trip.

We did buy a CD player for the living room a year ago. All our CDs are back on the shelves, instead of forgotten in a box, in the basement. Still have about 20 original 80s vinyls but no table to play them.

I was annoyed about buying another set of core books. One of my kids, who is in high school, was extremely excited about the fact that he was going to get a second PHB. It's the first time in his gaming lifetime that there has been a new edition, and he was pretty psyched about it.

So, there's an age aspect to consider.

Never had kids. Now I'm asking myself, should I introduce D&D to the 4 kids age 9-10 living on my street? Their parents know me well. Or would that be cringe?

My first car- a Volvo 240DL from the 70s- not only lacked powered controls, it didn’t have an AC. (In TX.)

My 2nd car still lacked power controls, but it had an AC that worked…for several years until it started blowing foam rubber insulation out of its vents for the last 18 months of my ownership.

My car had AC, but it didn't work. That's why people complained so much about the windows! That, and the fact that most of my friends were used to driving their parents' spare cars.

Others may disagree with me on this, but I think you'll have better luck if you wait a couple more years. 11-12 will work a lot easier. And if you use that time to bring up the idea of D&D with their parents during more casual interactions, you can probably help avoid some of the cringe.

My first car was a '72 Datsun 510 Station Wagon. My dad paid $100 for it and to this day I would insist that he got ripped off. It was seven different shades of primer and rust. The brake lights didn't work, which wasn't as big of a problem as you might expect because the brakes didn't work either.

One dad played briefly in his teens. That could work.
