Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

It's definitely a strong possibility, online play seems to really be built around the expectation that people will not show up.
It makes sense for face-to-face groups too. We probably have one player out about as often as we have all 6 present - simply because life gets in the way.

That said, I think people tend to be even flakier about attending online groups than face-to-face. And I think that's particularly true if it's a group recruited from online strangers rather than friends that you'd otherwise want to see and chat with before the dice hit the table. At least if someone misses a tabletop session, it's generally because of a family obligation, travel for work, an unavoidable conflict, or illness. It's not because "I forgot" or "I didn't feel like it" or "meh".

As someone who has played online VTT for a long time, this is very true. It takes a LOOONG time to build a stable group online. It's incredibly frustrating but, with enough time and patience, you can weed through the flakes and get a solid group together.

It’s a specific reference to the troll in Anderson's Three Hearts and Three Lions. Where exactly he got the idea from, I couldn't say.
It’s a mystery indeed. In a recent thread here, a user suggested that the regeneration might have been inspired by Thomas Bulfinch’s Legends of Charlemagne (1863), though the circumstances there are very different. Another user suggested maybe the hydra could have been a more direct precedent - especially with regard to using fire to stop things regrowing.

Is it the final countdown?

Great now more of my fantasy money is spent and all my walls are now covered in maps
Oh, I love that map so much. It’s probs ly good I can’t afford that sort of price, or I’d be super tempted to pay it. I can get as exact ling as anyone who’s read the History of Middle-Earth more than once, but the fact is that I like it, and nobody has to put up with what’s inside my head but me.

The trial I was supposed to serve on has been cancelled, I've once again dodged jury service.
I've only been called to jury duty twice and haven't made it onto a jury yet. The closest I came was in a case that was scheduled for 3 weeks, which should give the lawyers here a good idea of how big a case it was. It was a product liability case against a major car manufacturer.

The case settled in the middle of voir dire and we were sent home. We were in the process of being questioned by the attorneys in the case. The judge occasionally asked someone a question, but not many people were questioned, and when one was, it was like one question. Except for the young playboy model. The judge questioned her for like 15-20 minutes, none of which had anything to do with the case.

The judge said he was bummed that the case settled, because it had been scheduled to air on Court TV.

In my case, it was an Easter buffet at a hotel on the San Antonio riverwalk, and I was hosting 3 of my college friends.

We were the last guests, and when we decided to get dessert, they bussed our table and took the ladies purses to the register.

To be clear, our table was 15’ from the dessert table, and te room was completely free of obstacles to LoS. They SAW us at the dessert table getting dessert and still did that BS. In fact, we could see them at the register with the purses, waving us over.

After I had words with the manager, we got fresh drinks & cutlery to eat our desserts and the women got their purses back.
For me the worst service I've ever seen was at a restaurant at Mammoth Mountain. This was back in the late 80's and three families, mine, my uncles, and a family close to my step-father were all there, so it was like 15 people and kids.

We were seated in a section around the corner in the restaurant, because the main area was full. As you'd expect in a large group, a lot of conversation happened. After we were there for a very, very long time talking, we became aware that nobody had come to take our orders for drinks, let alone dinner, so someone went to talk to the staff. A little while later the waitress scurried up and said, "I'm so sorry. We completely forgot you guys were here."

After we got our drinks and she came back to take orders, my turn came up. I asked for a steak. She then asked me if I wanted soup or salad with it, and I said I'd like a salad with tomato, bell pepper and onion. She replied that they were out of bell pepper, so I said okay, then a salad with tomato and onion. That was when she said, "We're out of tomato, too. Come to think of it, we're also out of lettuce." Well, no salad.

When the food arrived it was on plates that were hot. She announced that we should be careful, because the plates were hot at the exact same time she handed the plate to my 8 or so year old cousin who promptly dropped the plate onto the table, because it was HOT. I can't remember if there any further snafus, but that was enough for me to rate it number 1 out of my 3 worst service experiences.

Did you look at all the OTHER stuff they have listed? That's where my fantasy money went!

The fam saw Coyote vs Acme today, and I highly recommend it to any Looney Tunes fans.

Granted I've only seen a bit over 400 of the shorts (the 6 gold edition sets and the various others that were in 6 or so of the super stars collections but not the gold), but it felt like it caught the spirit well.

Also, Dr. Peter Lorre makes a return.

You might want to hurry though, it looks like its run is coming to an end in a lot of places.
We're trying to insulate my daughter (3 and a half) from egregious gratuitous violence, but I suspect this movie will be fine. I suffered this trauma as a child, and I turned out fine!
