My current developing opinion is that it takes* significantly longer to prep maps and other assets on a VTT than it does for in-person play, but that investment of time makes transitioning between scenes significantly smoother/quicker than doing so in-person.

However, unforeseen technical issues can slow those transitions and quickly create a frustrated vibe, a vibe that takes longer to develop with in-person delays like drawing out a map or finding the correct minis.

Oh and this post is me procrastinating on prepping some maps on Owlbear Rodeo for tomorrow's game

I rather like "fog of war" on VTT and even when we were playing regularly in person, I used VTT out of preference. My early efforts involved a table that I made, with a translucent plexiglass top, and a projector underneath (45 degree mirror). We still used minis but I could mark things like AOE, and track invisible opponents, quite easily.

I feel if multiple people are picking up the same vibe from your posts, you may want to consider your posting style rather than complaining about how people are interpreting your posts.
It may be they are being uncharitable, but at least a moment of introspection could be good.
