I feel like this is the root of at least 50% of issues here and maybe in life generally.

You're not wrong, but I think its less the difference in core premises, as having those differences and not being aware of it. Which is usually some mixture of lack of self-awareness and poor communication.

There have been a number of times I've found myself in an argument with my wife and we eventually stop and go, "wait a second, what exactly do you think we're arguing about?"

I had one with mine many, many years ago before we were married where it got very heated and it turned out a term one of us was using (I no longer remember which one) had a significantly difference in its implications where the other was used to seeing it (I'm from Southern Cal and she was from East Texas, so there was potential for that present).

They’re nylon uppers & rubber soles, so the only thing you’d have to worry about are the insoles. The Merrells are similarly constructed. Some are even available with fleece lining.

The Florsheims are (as noted) out of production, but many of the companies that make hiking shoes make some kind of similar footwear. I almost bought North Face’s take on them, but I’ve been wearing Merrells for 15 or so years.

Search the web, specific sellers (REI, Dick’s, etc.) or brands (Keen, Timberland, etc.) for “camp shoes” or “camp slippers” or “slippers”.
