Players: Your Dream Campaign?

If you had the perfect GM on retainer and s/he was creating a campaign to your specifications, what would you wish for?

Me: Low-level urban swords-and-sorcery, rogues involved in heists and hijinks in and around a wretched hive of scum and villainy, a la Lankhmar, Arenjun, or Sanctuary, with occasional forays off to foreign lands in search of fabled treasures. Double points if the city is a seaport, allowing for piratey goodness and opportunities to sail off for adventure.

You: ...?

I'm just happy to be on the show. For me, a dream campaign is more about the players getting into charater, no disractions while we game, and just lots of fun.

Me?
Epic fantasy which allows me to progress from a lowly adventurer to an epic hero. (A la "Lord of the RIngs.")

Must have an overarching plot, and must include puzzles, NPC interaction, and baddies aplenty.

Bonus points if there are romantic entanglements somewhere along the way.

With a truly amazing GM (inventive and who knows his subject) and players who stay in character and come up with appropriate characters, I would like to play an Arthurian Knights campaign or an Oriental Adventures campaign ala Chinese Ghost Stories.

A setting which inspires me to build a character with an interesting background, and the DM not being afraid to use stuff that is personally important to my character in the game and integrate it into his campaign. Setting should preferably be a "shades of gray" world with interesting characters, and not too many that are completely unlikeable. A little dark, but not apocolyptic. Eberron would be nice.

I'd love a DM who had a good sense of timing, and throws appropriate fights in a roleplaying bout and roleplaying in a dungeon crawl to keep the variety up. As far as battle goes, I want climatic and action-packed fights with the risk of death, but not a particularly high death rate.

Also, a DM who prefers to play during the day. I just can't stay up much past 11 without getting tired.

High-level, high-magic, world-hopping and plane-hopping high fantasy with lots of action and lots of options. Little time wasted on shopping, training, etc. The opponents are mostly monsters, not humanoids with class levels. The main antogonists are powerful outsiders. The DM doesn't try to railroad us or bog us down with puzzles. Little political intrigue and nothing to do with merchant houses.

I have a lot of different campaign settings or styles I'd like to try, but I think what Crothian and CronoDekar said covers it for me. Everybody having fun, everybody getting to highlight what their characters do best, everyone involved in the game and not just warming a chair or getting bored when they're not in the spotlight. And no interruptions by illness, work, or family obligations. :D

Gneech, if you find a DM to run that campaign, I'm THERE.

Heehee. I ran it myself, back in the day, a campaign I remember with a misty fondness even now. But I have yet to play in such a game, alas!
