Please Rate the Arcane Archer

Ok I'm finding the discussions of various prestige classes, and the concept of prestige classes itself rather interesting...so lets have a go at another of the core PrCls
To me this class represents a melding of the elven obsession with bows to the elven obession with magic.
I dont detect any glaring problems with it, and it has some neat abilities...and a lot of different class combinations for qualifying...what does everyone think?

Well IMO it's terribly bro... just kidding! I haven't seen this in play, but in paper it seems pretty solid. At least you could make an intresting character, since it must be a spellcaster in part.

One of my players played a fighter/mage archer for a long time, and it proved viable. Not as murder as Order of the Bow, but still good.

The problem is that the main class ability, the enchanted arrows, is rendered almost pointless by Greater Magic Weapon.

At Epic levels, the class seems pretty cool though.

Unless you dont have a cleric in your party and never choose to learn the spell
I think its neat that they can just pick up any old arrow from anywhere and fire it as a +x weapon no spells or anything else required.

I find the class over powered.

In a game I played in there was a Ranger/mage that went AA.

It was a godly character in the damage it could deal. Why over shadowed any of the other PC's.

That's because of the power of archery and stacking magic bows and arrows. You could probably replicate that feat with a normal archer teamed with a mage or cleric with GMW.

Was that due to the class, or the character?

I'd just like it a bit more if it had a bonus level to your arcane class every other level, kinda like the spellsword.

I think an arcane archer should have less of a BAB requirement, and more of a Spell (maybe the ability to cast 2nd or even 3rd level spells). requirement.
