You can’t magic missile someone through a wall of force. It blocks line of sight. There is a shedload of sage advice on this. You can’t Misty Step through it for the same reason.
That sounds like Jeremy Crawford advice. An invisible wall can't block line of sight, only line of effect. Misty Step doesn't use line of effect. If you can see a spot within 30 feet, you can teleport there.

In 5.5E the Wall is invisible, which to me means it specifically does not block line of sight, but anything completely behind it does have full cover, so you can not use Magic Missile unless the target is taller than the wall or you can fly or something to look down on the creature from above (or obviously if you go around it).

I don't see why you can't misty step through it, or use any other form of teleportation. Forcecage has stipulations on teleporting, but Wall of Force does not.
It was invisible in 5e as well and blocked things from physically traveling through the wall.

Just to throw it in there....

Misty Step does say "teleport" you, which usually skips barriers...

Not totally RAW, but it can explain why people thing they can "step" to a place they can see.

You need to read the sage advice. Being able to “see your target” means “must have a line of sight”. Full cover, such as a glass window, or a wall of force, block line of sight, so, as far as spells are concerned, you cannot “see” through them. For the same reason you cannot normally use a mirror reflection or remote viewing device to target your spells. Since misty step requires you to be able to be able to “see” your destination, you cannot use it to pass through a glass window, never mind a wall of force. Dimension Door works fine though since you don’t need to be able to see your destination.
Misty Step has no target. You just teleport to a spot you can see. The path to target portion also only applies to something that obstructs the path between you and the target. Mistry Step has no path. You aren't going through the wall like a lightning bolt would, you are bypassing it completely.

That Sage Advice is bupkis.
