Another one for Whittakers! And they still make the small slabs, you can get peanut, almond, and my personal fave, coconut. Alas, here in 'Straya we don't get the full range of Whittakers.

Shout out to Green and Blacks. They make amazing chocolate. But they're a British company and it hasn't been available in 'Straya for a few years now. :-(

Oh! Almost forgot Tony's! It's fairtrade and gorgeous. And widely available.

I too am yet to encounter any good American chocolate. I mean, there must be small time producers there doing something good. But I'll never encounter them.
Whittakers is great. It’s such a nice surprise that you can get it in Canada as well as NZ.

I do love a big chunky chocolate bar, especially split into uneven pieces. Chocolonely is great but I miss this company in the UK; their Peanut Butter and Pistachio is amazing.

I've not heard of TMPRD before. (I assume it's pronounced "tempered.") Looks good. :D

I've only encountered Dubai chocolate very recently. I've had it twice. Once was "meh, what's the fuss?" The 2nd time was "Party in my mouth!"

Like anything that's popular, some places are cashing in on Dubai chocolate a little more transparently than others. Most of the packaged candy versions of it are awful, clearly the cheapest version of it they could make (often without the kadayif) but charging premium prices. Most of the restaurants I noticed adding Dubai chocolate variations on existing menu items were not a lot better, just the teensiest amount of the non chocolate ingredients and then charging double for it. But when it's good, it's great.

I haven’t tried Dubai chocolate, and don’t intend to. But by your description, it’s kind of an experience like I had with tiramisu.

I’ve eaten tiramisu many times in the USA, with different levels of enjoyment. But I’d pretty much given up on it for decades by the time I was invited to Rome for a special occasion in 2015. At some point, I ordered tiramisu because the establishment we were in didn’t have gelato.

It was the best damn tiramisu I’d ever had. Suddenly, I understood the dessert on a completely different level than I’d ever expected. I comprehended where American versions had failed.

I had it a couple more times on that trip. Each time it was better than what I’ve had in America.
