Question about Ring of Telekinesis.

Miigor

First Post
Our party found Ring of Telekinesis and we thought that my Cleric/Divine Discipline should use it.
Is it possible? Without having Telekinesis-spell on my lists?
And if its possible what statmodifier it uses on the DC? The creators(which is propably is wizard with INT) or my INT/WIS or whatever.
We are having some problems finding "rules" for this.
So what you think?

Thanks!

Yes. Rings are usable by anyone (see DMG: Rings: Activation, command word). The save DC for any item is the minimum necessary to cast the spell (see DMG: Saving Throws Against Magic Item Powers, in this case DC 17).

What about for Specialist Wizards who have Illusion as their prohibited school? The way I read it they can't use any items which replicate effects from their prohibited school which I always though was stupid. Some dumb fighter can use the ring but my Necromancer can't.

They can't use spelltrigger items using Illusion such as wands or scrolls of whatever.

Anything else is allowed.

Yes (agreeing with Darklone). Specialist wizards "can't even cast such spells from scrolls or wands", per PHB: Wizard: School Specialization. Rings are usable by anyone.

if you dm is a stickler for wealth per level (which most I know are ;) ) then I would suggest trading its 75k gp worth self in for something the party can use a little bit more.. probably quite a few somethings for that matter!

Well, actually it was originally Ring of Invisibility, but our DM decided that its too powerful/boring, so he changed it to Telekinesis...
Yes, personally i dont like invisibility so it wasnt a big deal to me...
But, I dont think our DM would let us sell it :D
But, actually that Telekinesis could be fun too, throwing goblins and orcs all around the place...
Its very hard to find some of the game rules from the books(or understand what they REALLY mean)... But, luckily theres forums like this.

Thanks again :)
