Sorry, wasn't sure where to place this but I was just wondering if anyone here has heard anything about plans from either DCU or Marvel on releasing a new and more updated RPG Guide/Books?

I haven't heard anything about Marvel & RPGs since their in-house RPG system died. The last I heard about DC was that Black Library had the license for a DC RPG; but Black Library got out of the RPG market before they apparently did anything with the license, and while it may be possible that it was transferred to Fantasy Flight along with WH & 40k RPGs, I doubt it. Those kind of licenses tend not to be transferrable (see also, Last Unicorn Games, the Dune RPG, and WotC).
