Questionable Fantasy Novel Covers

I am not sure if anyone else has noticed this, but what is up with all of the Fantasy(As in Knights, and magic etc.) covers sometimes having almost nude women on them? It is a bit embarrasing when I go to the book store to pick up a book and when I get back she wants to see what I got. I now have to say "a book" and rush upstairs. The book I am thinking of right now is "Ressurection" by Paul S. Kemp, Book VI of the War of the Spider Queen Series. I dont have it yet, but I am going to have to sneak that one upstairs too. :o

If your gf is a romantic novel reader, you don't have to worry. Just ignore her occasional call for "Fabio!" during bedtime session.

:p

EDIT: If it's your mom, stick to WotC's novel lines.

shilsen ... Galeros it is really funny watching your avatars talk to each other :p

And to answer the origional question, hot semi-naked women (preferably in danger) is a long standing tradition for fantasy covers. :heh:

I would suggest you get one of those book covers (leather?) that you can put over whatever softcover book you are reading. And another for hardcover books. You can then show your mother the image-free title page of your books without revealing the...revealing covers.

Err - this has been a staple of fantasy lit for about 40 odd years now. Heck even sci fi covers seem to have those skin tight space suits for women (don't they get cold?). It has been a long time since I have had to worry about what my mother might think of my reading material so I'm probably not the one to take advice from. :)

LOL too, funny mixup. Anyways, the book in question ("Ressurection") is a WoTC novel. *Sighs* most people think I would have nothing to complain about.

Argo: yes that is why I changed my avatar to this one. I am glad Shilsen has decided to post in one of my threads. :)

:D

My mom, thats why. :o

Whenever you get embarrassed around your mom because of such a subject, just close your eyes and imagine her naked too. I guarantee you won't be embarrassed any more. Really.
