Ranger's Favored enymy bonus on half-races

I hope this hasn't already been beaten to death:

If a ranger has Humans as thier favored enemy, what of half-elves or half-orcs?

I have been told that they are effected as was since they are half-human, but I tend to think not. Thier descriptions say they have elf or orc blood, and this classifies them as that race for the purposes of magic items and such. The human side is not mentioned at all.

What thoughts do the fine folk of EN World have on this subject?

I think half-orcs and half-elves count as orcs and elves (respectively) when it comes to favored enemies. I think the favored enemy class feature clearly falls within the "for all special effects and abilities" languge in the Elven/Orc Blood description.

What about a creature with the Half-dragon template? If a ranger's favoured enemy is dragon, does he get the bonus fighting a half-dragon? IIRC, the half dragon keeps most of the physical appearances of the base creature, so it is not the same shape as a dragon, and doesn't fight the same, etc.

I guess you need to decide what constitutes the knowledge that conveys the bonuses, and decide if they would apply to the half-? creatures.

The half-dragon template says that the creature type changes to "dragon." Therefore, the ranger would get his favored enemy bonus against it.
