rangers, thrown weapon, double weapon

OK,
So if a ranger throws a heavy weapon with dual strike, do they use STR or DEX?

And how exactly would you deal with a double Axe with the "dwarven thrower" property?

And... anything weird if you try to throw a double axe using dual strike? I'd think it wouldn't matter, but from a color/flavor viewpoint it seems fun.
Though can you both throw it and melee attack with it with "throw and stab" and the like?

------
Just checked character builder. It is saying you use dex and throwing the double axe is fine. It is also defaulting the axe to thrown on the power cards...

Bah. Any ideas?

The heavy thrown property affects ranged basic attacks only. Other powers always use whatever ability score indicated by their Attack: line.

But yes, throwing a dwarven thrower double axe with Twin Strike should work fine.

"Dual Strike" is a fighter at-will, I presume you mean "Twin Strike", in which case, yeah, for ranged attacks with that power use DEX, for melee attacks with that power use STR. Just as the power says.

As for "Throw and Stab", it requires you to "wield both a melee weapon and a thrown weapon", so... I think it's up to the DM, really. The wording is slightly vague, but consensus seems to be that it should work. Keeping in mind that the power's been errata'd, I don't think you're going to wind up outdamaging a Twin Striking archer with a greatbow, and you've blown your magic item property to do it. And it sounds awesome, so personally I'd allow it.
