Carnival was a domain in 2e and Isode was it's Lord. The difference was she was mysterious and never seen, whereas with Nepenthe she is allowed to be a tortured hero rather than a fallen angel.
Ohh, good to know! Thanks, I must've misread something!

It was touched on the 2e product Carnival (it was one of the last 2e Ravenloft products). The idea was that most people thought it was just a traveling show and it isn't until the very last page of the supplement that the Dark Lord is revealed. The 5e version doesn't hide it's domain status but does still hide the dark lord via the bait and switch.

The Foundry preview also lists out the ten genrea the book will detail somehow:

"10 genres of horror: body horror, cosmic horror, dark fantasy, folk horror, ghost stories, gothic horror, disaster horror, occult detective stories, psychological horror, and slasher horror."

Sithicus not being in the core book would be weird, given that Soth's art is prominently part of this year's road map and they're using Sithicus to promote the book.

"Oops, your death knight is in another castle" would be a weird mistake from a team that seems to be doing a lot better than the prior regime.

The reason I think Sithicus might be DLC is because the "D&D Encounters: Shadows of Sithicus mini-adventure" is listed as a digital pre-order bonus. But, it could also be additional adventure content for a Domain that is included in the book. I guess we won't know until the table of contents leak.

I bet that means Innsmouth, and thus that Sithicus is DLC.
Sithicus isn’t a new domain, it’s an old domain that wasn’t in VGR. Innsmouth is new - it has never been in any previous product.

They are putting Soth front and centre in the marketing, and we have seen his page. He isn’t not going to be in the book, and therefore his domain is in too.

The “adventure” like most preorder stuff, will be a 3 page bit of fluff.
