Razorfeather Armor

Hey guys, after both an annoying and very long battle, me and my party finally defeated a pair of steelwings(monster manual 5) in their nest, aside from the egg which we will hatch and raise as a mount, we got a total of 1000 razorfeathers, 350 from each steelwing, and 300 from the nest. I was wondering how many feathers would it take to make a suit of masterwork scalemail(for a medium sized human), and how heavy and any special properties the armor would have, this is going to be my duskblade's new armor which will be enchanted with the twilight ability (players handbook 2).

I am unfamiliar with the animal in question, and also unfamiliar with historical examples of feather armor, so I think one suit of armor would cost whatever you happen to have on you right now.

1,000? Sure, why not. Sounds vaguely reasonable.

Armor isn't just feathers, of course. You'll need the basilisk leather undershirt, some mithral mail for backing & bindings, and lots of #345 blue magic dust to ensure the feathers stay unruffled.

The animal is in monster manual 5 by the way and is called a steelwing, and the razorfeathers are almost as hard as adamantine, but flexible and light enough for flight, and are pretty sharp to boot.
