Hello! I am hoping to start a PBP game running The Dragonwilds setting (by Zack Wolf & Friends/Spellsword), using the Vagabond Pulp Fantasy RPG system (by Taron Pounds aka Indestructoboy/Land of the Blind).

IC: link pending
OOC: link pending

I am hoping to recruit 5 players, to begin as level 1 heroes.
Anticipated Posting Frequency is 1+ post per day.
Vagabond is a d20 roll-over system with 7 ancestries (Human, Dwarf, Elf, Halfling, Drakken, Goblin & Orc), and 18 classes (Alchemist, Bard, Barbarian, Dancer, Druid, Fighter, Gunslinger, Hunter, Luminary, Magus, Merchant, Pugilist, Revelator, Rogue, Sorcerer, Vanguard, Witch & Wizard). It uses a Perk based system to customize characters, and advancement maxes out at level 10. Similar to D&D's Advantage/Disadvantage mechanic, rolls in Vagabond can be Favored (+1d6) or Hindered (-1d6).

The Vagabond Basic Players Guide (featuring 4 ancestries and 6 classes, plus all the rules you will need to play) is available from Drivethru RPG as a Pay What You Want product, so you can check that out with minimal/nil buy-in.

The Dragonwilds is a sprawling hex-crawl bursting with perilous adventure! Heroes will begin in the southern realm of Lanternshire and from there, you will be free to wander as you will and pursue whatever rumours/quest hooks take your fancy.

Ok. Consider me interested.

I will like go for a fairly straightforward character concept. What exactly will depend on what others want to play, and any party framing.

Hi! Your interest is appreciated, and I would absolutely love to get this game going, but yours is the first response since I posted the recruitment thread almost a month ago, so I'm not sure we will get the numbers. Fingers crossed that your post encourages other players to sign up.

Are you working from the free Players guide, or did you stump up for the full rules?

I nearly bought the full rules before discovering i already had the basic rules. So decided to have a run at character generation with the basic rules.

thotd.

The initial plan was to generate a few random characters to see how it works. I often play Fighters and Rogues, and occasionally Clerics. So the Basic rules offered options.

I ended up with The Lady, a wizard (a squishy blaster focused on Casting Spells. Stay in safety.) and her Lady in Waiting, a Pugilist (a frontline bruiser. Stay in the frontline, even while at low HP.)

They are not quite finished, and I am sure that there are some issues with them. The pugilist was a bit challenging. I think that I was trying to cover too many bases with combat. The Fighter might be a better option using a selection of the Melee perks to support the close protection concept.

Let me know what you think.

Vagabond Character 002 - The Lady
The Lady is such mostly by dint of her companion being a Lady in Waiting. So someone has to be a Lady. Really, the Lady is more an Agent of Chaos. But then her companion would be an Agent in Waiting. Which sounds silly. The Lady has an enormous capacity for getting into trouble. Then she Blinks away, usually leaving her Lady in Waiting in the middle of the mess, to continue causing trouble from afar. Usually with magic, sometimes with her Arbalest when she is feeling savage. Or out of mana. The Lady is looking for something. Probably something Mystical.
