Remember adventure games?

The one I have fondest memories of, and possibly the only one I ever managed to play through without a walkthrough, was Lucasarts' Full Throttle. Great game, felt like playing through an animated movie.

A lot of those Lucasarts games did the neat thing of rewarding failure - some of the funniest moments were what happened when you didn't get a puzzle right, often with extended bits that played out across multiple attempts, so you'd actually deliberately get puzzles wrong sometimes just to see them play out.

I did a lot for a year or so before I joined the Army. Some of my friends were really hardcore on it for a couple of years after that. For the life of me I am trying to remember the name. This would have been circa-1996.
I played a few of them for a while, but cannot remember any names either. Years later, I met a guy at work who actually designed a few "levels/area's" for a popular MUD codebase. ('TinyMUD' ? Can't remember either). I was pretty impressed.

I just did a quick google search, and it appears that there are still a few of them currently active, and you seem to have a reasonable choice of MUD clients as well. Amazing.
