Runepriests of Kara-Tur is up!

None of these options are really game changing... but that paragon path is not bad at all, and the new runic mastery is pretty beastly.

Nice. I like the art, and though I'm not much of a fan of OA-style D&D, I like the flavour.

Also, Heavenly Halberdier is a nice option for Runepriests multiclassed into fighter to get polearm cheese going.

I like. Serene Blade is a really nice feature. Powers look decent, and I do like the Paragon Path. Overall, a good article.

Would have liked to see the new build be Wisdom or Constitution instead of just Wisdom (the Con build, while messing up your defenses, was just much more useful) and overall I like the article, but the odds of me using this stuff is so low because the class is just awful. There's almost no reason to play one over a Warpriest now and seeing as Warpriest will see much, much more support than the Runepriest ever will, I think we can say this article is really nice, but probably too late.

I wish they'd go back to this class and just overhaul it, but since WotC policy is to no longer go back to classes and make newer/better classes to effectively replace them. . . yeah, this class is dead.

Still, neat article. Well written. Just a shame it's for such an ineffective class.

If anyone has questions about the article, I'd be happy to tackle them.

1. Was this an article you pitched, or one that was assigned?

2. Why no at-will attacks? When I look at the class, that's one spot that I think needs some more content.

3. I'm a little confused with Protective Scroll ... it's an encounter power that can be kept until an extended rest. Does this mean you can stockpile them during the day (either by creating one every encounter but not expending it or taking multiple short rests at the beginning of the day)? I don't think that this is unbalanced if it's possible, but I'm curious as the the RAI.

4. Written and illustrated ... how are you so awesome?

Honestly? It is quite solid and the mechanics seem to be pretty clear. I didn't see anything rules-wise that would warrant a lot of discussion. You CAN sort of spam the scroll writing thing, but it doesn't really look like that gains you any huge benefit. With the right party setup it might be a decent trick, take a few short rests in a row and pen several of them, but generally speaking there are other equally good ways to shift hit points around etc. that already work equally well.

I think for an OA based game the RP will make a good solid oriental priest. Certainly some people are going to complain about the level of support. The thing is RPs have a lot of built in flexibility. They do have a limited set of powers, but with all the various runestate flipping stuff going on you can do a lot of different stuff with them.
