About to pick up the car. Hopefully we make it out of Edinburgh alive!
You should be okay, so long as you remember which side of the road to drive on! With the benefit of hindsight I would have suggested you take the train from Heathrow, but I didn’t know there was going to be torrential storms!

Really enjoyed our golf near campletown. Made a mistake planning part, so spending time driving to Tobermory and back for no good reason.... sitting in standby for the ferry....

One week in and we've had a flight cancelled, which didn't go well, and a ferry cancelled, but that's led us to being "stuck" in Oban for two days, seeing castles, drinking excellent whisky, and taking a boat tour.... well, that's the plan anyway. We'll miss Staffa, but what can you do?

We failed to get to Iona and Lewis (I particularly wanted to see the stones at Callanish) because storms made it unsafe for the ferries. North West Scotland is the closest thing the UK has to a wild frontier, and transport can be vulnerable to the often unpredictable weather, as well as mechanical failure (the region is completely ignored by Westminster, and Holyrood aren't much better). That's why I dislike the modern requirement to pre-book everything. You really need to be able to react to the conditions and change plans as the situation changes.
